4 New & Unique Ways to Use Rosemary

Rosemary is one of the best and well-known herbs of all time — and not for no reason. Its woodsy, mint-like flavor works wonders in the kitchen (here’s looking at you, rosemary garlic butter, rosemary potatoes, and rosemary olive oil), but cooking isn’t rosemary’s only use.

These 4 ways to use rosemary are absolutely divine and totally unexpected. With these uses on hand (+ rosemary’s notoriety for improving moods, boosting memory, and detoxifying systems), we fully expect rosemary to quickly become a staple in your life.

Psst! If you’re growing a fresh Inbox of Herbs, your Rosemary needs 6 + hours of sunlight to thrive and only needs to be watered when the top of the soil is dry to the touch.

1. Rosemary Infused Honey

It’s the perfect sweetener for ricotta, warm bread, or your favorite tea. With a woodsy scent and slight minty flair, this honey also works as a glaze on your savory dishes like poultry or pork. The natural flavors of the honey and the rosemary come together for a sweet floral and earthy tone you’ll crave on everything.

How-To:

Using a pestle or cocktail muddler, lightly bruise the needles on 5 3-inch rosemary needles. Combine the rosemary and 1 cup honey in a small saucepan with the honey and warm over moderately low heat for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let stand for 30 minutes. Remove rosemary stems from the honey and enjoy!

2. A Brighter Bouquet

If you think some of the flowers you purchase from a florist or local market have lost some of their special scents, you’re not wrong. As consumers demand better-looking blooms, growers have been breeding their flowers for their appearance rather than their smell. To solve this aromatic lack, try using rosemary! Turn your fresh cut flowers to a great smelling centerpiece is easy by simply adding a few sprigs to your newest bouquet.  It’s a quick way to add a lovely scent to your arrangement without sacrificing the blooms.

3. Perfect Present Topper

If you’re like us, one of the most exciting parts of giving a gift is deciding how to wrap it — and we’re not alone. According to one gift wrap volunteer at St. Michaels Women’s Exchange in Dallas,  “A beautifully presented present always leaves a lasting impression, and first impressions last.” So, next time you wrap up a cute gift — big or small, place a sprig of rosemary on top. It’s absolutely stunning. Besides, it enlivens the senses before the present is even opened.

4. Rosemary Popcorn

A bowl of freshly popped popcorn turns any old flick into the happiest of movie nights. Movie or not, popcorn is essentially the perfect snack — especially when it’s dressed in your favorite flavors. One of our garden-inspired favorites that practically explodes with flavor is rosemary popcorn. Whether you enjoy a handful or bowl this treat is a great way to keep everyone happy.

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups of air-popped popcorn
  • 4 Tbsp truffle oil or rosemary-infused olive oil
