These Ginger Cookies are easy to make, ship and always a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup butter

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • ¼ cup molasses

  • 2 cups flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves

  • ½ teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees
  • Cream the butter and sugar until combined.  Add the egg and molasses and beat until completely mixed.
  • Sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt and add to the cream mixture.
  • Roll the dough into small balls, about 1” diameter.  Roll the balls in sugar.
  • Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Flatten the balls with your fingertips.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes.
