4 New Things You Need to Try This October

Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.F. Scott Fitzgerald

We think Fitzgerald is onto something. Don’t fall into old routines — try something new this fall! The benefits of trying new things are incredible, so give yourself a chance to start afresh with the new season.

Here are 4 new things you should try this season. No matter where you live or how much time you think you don’t have, focus on trying something new this season. Your future self will thank you for it.

1. Read an old classic.

Reading in a garden at a table

Old classics are among our favorite genre. There’s nothing that will take you out of your routine like taking a fantastical trip to the past. Keep it October themed if you want! Dracula, Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, The Call Of the Wild…the options for exciting literature are endless.

2. Plant a garden.

If you’re going to try something new, you might as well try something that you’ll love forever. Take the chance this October to grow something new. (Psst! Garlic and lettuce grow wonderfully in the fall.)

3. Send a handwritten note to a friend.

Fall gets busy, but don’t let the hustle and bustle make you forget about the people you love. Instead of sending a friend a text, write a handwritten note! They’ll see the extra effort and meaning in it and will love you took the time.

4. Go to a yoga class outside.

Before it gets too crisp — and while it’s still beautifully orange and yellow — get outside and enjoy nature! This October, instead of resorting to the old hats you know (walks in parks, biking, etc.), try something new! How about restorative yoga practice?

These are five things on our list to try this October, but it really doesn’t matter what it is — just that you try. What new things will you try today?
