Garden-Inspired Cocktails

Southside Cocktail Recipe | Gardenuity

Over the years the  Southside cocktail has become a summer classic with its refreshing lemon, lime, and mint flavors.

The Southside is also known as “The Gin Mojito”, seeing that it is very similar to a Rum Mojito. Both cocktails share their love for mint, lemon, and lime. The great thing about the Southside is how versatile it is, you can use either Gin or Vodka. So if you’re not a Gin fan swap out the Gin for Vodka like Lana did in this recipe.

This cocktail has a long history and can be traced back to 1916 where it made its first appearance in Huge Enslinn’s book “Recipes for Mixed Drinks”. It later became the preferred drink of Chicago’s most noted crime boss, Al Capone. Al Capone and his gang were known to sip this cocktail while they dominated Chicago’s South Side, hence the name.

Today many people have taken this classic cocktail and turned it into a frozen favorite. If you are interested in that recipe, just click our link – Frozen Southside Cocktail.

This is the high cocktail – for the frozen cocktail you can find our Large Batch Frozen Southside Cocktail Recipe.
