Do you wake up in the morning feeling a little more “groggy” than you would like to? So did, Olivia Ivey-Davis – then she decided to make a change, and she began her health and wellness page, Skinny Hangover.
This week, we had a chance to talk to Olivia all about her inspiration, as well as her presence in the world of online health and wellness. This is all in preparation for our shared Instagram Live event with Olivia coming up on next Tuesday, March 23rd. You don’t want to miss out on this. Keep reading to learn more about Olivia’s journey and how you can tune in to our event.
Skinny Hangover is Olivia’s Instagram account where she posts daily affirmations, new recipes, workouts, and general wellness tips. When asked how the account began, Ivey-Davis responded, “I started Skinny Hangover about 3 years ago. I was in bed hungover, and another weekend had come gone. Still, I wasn’t treating myself the way I wanted to; I just wanted to take care of my body. My account turned from my personal weight loss journey to a much deeper understanding of wellness and nutrition.”
We asked where the inspiration for the name “Skinny Hangover” came from, and Olivia told us that “‘Skinny Hangover’ peaks people’s interests; I’ve learned that being skinny isn’t the ultimate goal of eating healthy, and that’s what I want people to learn from the account.”
“I started my journey through being on a harmful diet,” shares Olivia, “I placed too much levity into how I was following it perfectly. I’m happy to say that I’ve since escaped the diet world; I think my inspiration has been the anti-diet movement. I find that diets can be really harmful, and I am always trying to learn more about how to follow a balanced diet without specific rules.”
Olivia also shared that she ultimately has always been on the search for a way to treat her body better. As someone who grew up with a fast metabolism, the idea of health not being a direct reflection of the body’s physicality is something that Ivey-Davis has learned along the way.
Olivia recognizes that there is so much pressure placed on being a healthy woman in our society. She says, “I think as a young woman, it’s really confusing to navigate your personal health journey. There’s so much information constantly coming at us about how we should look.”
“My whole goal is to be relatable on the internet, I go out and enjoy things and I enjoy health and wellness. It doesn’t have to be a scary thing.”

Ivey-Davis’ goal in maintaining her presence online is to show her followers that being dedicated to a healthier lifestyle doesn’t have to consume your entire life. “I think there’s also a lot of influencers in the health and wellness space that don’t talk about enjoying indulgences on a frequent basis. I think sometimes it’s hard when you’re hungover and feeling bad.”
Oliva shares that she strives to make her content relatable and uplifting to her followers; after all, life is always throwing curveballs. It’s about rolling with your own reality – and sometimes that reality involves needing a chance to sit back and relax! “I want to be the person who makes a salad, and works out and also can go and enjoy a round of tequila shots,” Olivia says, “You can do it all; it’s a space that’s lacking a realistic part of life, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing.”
