Interview with Adrienne Jones | Bea’s Wellness Teas

We had the wonderful opportunity to speak with Adrienne Jones, the founder, and genius behind Bea’s Wellness Teas. Adrienne shared with us the story of how she began her work and research, as well as the recovery that herbs and spices brought into her life.

If you’ve ever felt unconvinced by the medicinal system, or if you’ve ever been misunderstood or falsely treated by a doctor, you’ll want to tune into this conversation. Through trial and error, Adrienne discovered that not only do herbs and spices bring about a more wholesome eating regimen, but they have the power to heal the body from the inside out.

Check it out.

How it Started

In 2016, Adrienne had been diagnosed with a heart condition, extreme inflammation, and right around that same time, she was also diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and Hashimoto’s disease – all within weeks of each other. “The heart condition was the scariest because I was put on bed rest,” Jones shares, “I had two cardiologists who were just testing things out on me because the problem I had was viral. So, I started researching the medicines they were trying out on me.”

“One day, at 34 years old, I really thought I wasn’t going to make it. I’d been going to these people, and none of them could help me.”

“I knew of nothing else,” Adrienne says, “but I did know that whatever was happening in my body was due to inflammation, and an autoimmune response. Finally, I started looking up herbs for inflammation, and that’s how I learned about turmeric. Then, I started looking up herbs for my individual symptoms, not what they told me what I had. That’s when I researched the easiest and safest way to try these herbs and spices, and I learned that teas would be the best way.”

Recovery

Adrienne had been told that she would be in pain and suffering from the symptoms of her diagnosis for the rest of her life. The doctors she had been seeing were experimenting with different medicines that eventually had nothing to do with her diagnosis at all.

“At a point, I had lost all faith in my doctors – doctors expect every person to fit into the same box, and that’s just not the reality of how healing works.”

Adrienne Jones

The amazing thing is that, after only two months of diligently researching and adding new herbs and spices to her daily routine, Adrienne was off of bedrest entirely. “My cardiologist was amazed. They said, ‘I’m not sure exactly what you’re doing, but if it’s working for you, keep doing it.’”

The Start of Bea’s Wellness Teas

“The whole reason for doing this,” shares Adrienne, “is for the ease of use; putting combinations of herbs together for someone who needs immediate relief, who doesn’t have the time to do the research, or they’re too sick. When you’re trying out something new, it takes a lot of time, dedication, trust and belief – if you go into it thinking that it’s not going to work, a lot of times it won’t. When I was ill, I was depressed; when I was sick, I thought nothing was going to help me.”

Adrienne acknowledges that the world of tea drinking can be daunting, as there is a vast amount of leg work to be done in order to find the right herbal remedy for you. This is why she began Bea’s Wellness Teas – to help those who need to be steered in the right direction on their journey towards healing and wellness.

“At one time, I would have 10 different tea bags hanging out of my cup because there aren’t enough hours in the day to try all of the herbs.”

Adrienne Jones

A lot of my customers are coming to me with a health concern, but they may not be tea drinkers. The world of tea drinkers is so sophisticated; you feel like you have to have your teapot, your hat, and your books. I take that out of the equation to make it more accessible; I package the teas in a way that helps people learn.”

Misconceptions with Healing Teas

“People are just afraid,” Jones states, “there’s an equal amount of good information to bad information about herbs out there. I’ve learned that removing the fear, and just trying it out, is the same thing as trusting a prescription that you’re given. It’s important to understand that whether it’s natural or a man-made chemical, your body is more likely to respond positively to something that’s natural; don’t be afraid to take the herbs. Do your research.”

It can be concerning to try a new remedy, especially if it is something that you’ve never been encouraged to try before. Remember that your body thanks you for including natural ingredients in your daily routine. You truly can’t go wrong with a little extra greenery.

Advice from Adrienne

It’s okay to feel nervous to try something new; be mindful of how you embark on your journey, and you will have the resources you need to make informed and healthy decisions. “Experiment, start slow. A little bit of each herb won’t hurt you just to try it out – it’s really about removing the fear and knowing that these plants are here for a reason, they’re healing,” says Adrienne.

“I want to empower people to trust themselves to give natural remedies a try, and help them truly believe that they can heal. Even if doctors will tell you that you’re going to deal with something for the rest of your life; had I believed what the doctors told me, I would still be dealing with that pain and dread – since I’ve begun my own practice, it has not come back.”

A Positive Frame of Mind

“Yes, it’s the herbs,” Adrienne says, “but it’s also the mindset. I hope that whoever purchases my teas will see that this is very personal to me – I’ve done the research, and I want to help people who are dealing with the same things. Sharing my teas and providing hope are the biggest things to me.”

Learning to Listen to Your Body

In Adrienne’s home, among herself and her family, there has been no illness or major health issues. They haven’t even had the need to visit doctors. “Clearly something that’s being done here is working, and it’s all about reconnecting through herbs and reconnecting with the earth.”

A wonderful way to settle into the healing possibilities of your herbs and spices is to turn the practice into a moment of mindfulness or meditation. “This time of self-reflection,” Jones adds, “why would someone else be able to tell me better about myself than me? This ritual lets me take a moment of silence to reflect; that’s what meditation helps with. It turns off that outer stuff and forces you to listen to your inner voice, your intuition. You can learn how to flex that muscle like any other muscle. Once you do that, it will empower you to learn to take care of yourself the way you know you really need to, not the way someone else feels like you should.”

“Take care of yourself the way you know you really need to, not the way someone else feels like you should.”
