Corporate Earth Day Ideas – It’s Not Too Late

Earth Day is April 22, and it’s just around the corner!

The office holiday celebration is back, and there’s no better holiday to celebrate than Earth Day. The commemoration offers numerous ways for employees to get outside, get their hands dirty, and thank the planet for all it does to sustain us.

Are you looking for ways to celebrate Earth Day in your office? Here are some of our favorite ideas to get everyone at work excited about Mother Nature.

Spend Time Outside

One of the best ways to celebrate Earth Day is to take the time to appreciate nature. If you are short on time and resources, try gathering colleagues together for a quick walk over lunch hour. You could even trot over to a nearby park and enjoy a picnic lunch al fresco. It’s a great way to get some Vitamin D, bond with your coworkers, and remember just how wonderful our planet can be.

Garden–Yes, Garden!

Gardening is becoming a fast-growing trend within the corporate space. And there’s good reason: not only do plants add aesthetics and life to sometimes dreary spaces, but gardening also transforms office air quality, improves mental health and builds camaraderie and community across departments and companies

Gardening brings offices together. It transforms the water cooler banter, builds shared experience, and gets people excited about coming to work.  Get your colleagues gardening with Gardenuity Grow Kits, the perfect container garden for even beginner gardeners. Kits include a grow bag (which can even be personalized with your company name!), the perfect amount of soil and fertilizer, and plants that are tailored to grow in the specific climate of your hometown. You can also provide desktop gardens to spruce up the office space.

Host a Virtual Plant-Centric Workshop

Offices that are still virtual can still celebrate Earth Day online. Gardenuity’s Corporate Sponsorship program offer digital gardening workshops that will get the whole team excited about growing together.

Companies such as Uber, MGM Resorts, and Amdocs have experienced the joy and community building of Gardenuity Gardening Workshops. Each event is tailored specifically to its corporate audience and personalized with your company’s branding. Employees receive a garden to their home and learn how to best care for it over the course of the online program. It’s a great way to not just bring life to a virtual world but also bring life to offices separated by distance.

You can learn more about corporate partnerships here. We are working with corporate clients right until Earth Day, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Throw a Sustainable Party

If you are looking to go all out, try hosting a completely sustainable event for your entire office. Start by sourcing locally-grown food, find compostable napkins, plates, and silverware, and reuse old decorations from previous events. Spend time discussing your favorite outdoor activities, and give each member of your office a plant as a party favor.

Give Back to the Planet

Individuals can make a difference when it comes to taking care of the planet. This Earth Day, remind your colleagues that their actions matter. Send around information about individual actions to combat environmental damage (we like this one from the NRDC), and invite coworkers to donate to a local organization working on climate-related issues. A list of nonprofits can be found here.
