Featured Garden: Spring Collection’s The Caprese Garden

This spring, dive into culinary gardening with our newest garden from spring collection: The Caprese Garden.

Nothing tastes better than a fresh Italian Caprese Salad with sliced mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, and sweet basil. The Caprese Garden contains everything you need to grow, harvest, and create the perfect caprese salad: fresh basil and tomato plants with a full garden kit.

The Caprese Garden marries some of the most notable ingredients in Italian cuisine, fresh tomatoes, fresh Mozzarella, basil and olive oil. The Caprese salad’s history dates back to post World War I in Italy. A patriotic mason wanted to make a dish that was a tribute to Italy and visually incorporated the tricolor of the Italian flag in the dish. The first printed mention of the Caprese salad was on the menu at the Hotel Quisisana. During the 1950s, King Farouk asked his chef for a light afternoon snack and was served a Caprese sandwich—the rest is history. The Caprese salad is listed on the top five favorite salads in America.

“The Caprese (tomato and mozzarella salad) is my favorite salad of all and one of the reasons I started the Mozzarella Company.”Paula Lampert, founder and CEO of the Mozzarella Company

“Launching our new Caprese Garden with Paula Lambert is a thrill for me, I have long been a fan, follower and customer of the Dallas Mozzarella Company and of Paula personally. Having the opportunity to launch one of our summer’s best collections at an event with Paula will be extraordinary for everyone in attendance. A little wine, garden inspired cocktail, cheese tasting and planting will make for a memorable evening that will be remembered with every harvest of tomatoes through the season.”Donna Letier, co-founder and CEO of Gardenuity

Seasonal and tasty, these plants will thrive in the springtime and deliver fresh harvests that can be transferred straight to the plate. Just add fresh mozzarella, a touch of olive oil, and a bit of sea salt.
