We asked Morgan Pieper, founder of Feed Me Pronto, to share with us her favorite seasonal herbs and products from Central Market, one of her go-to spots for anything special. While this might be an easy ask for some, it’s not so easy for Pieper — a self-proclaimed foodie and the brains behind the soon-to-open Feed Me Pronto store in downtown Dallas.
Feed Me Pronto is the new version of the convenience store for the health-conscious, modern adult who’s on the run all the time. It’s foodie food, but on-the-go.
Pieper is not only the founder of what will soon to be the go-to destination for anyone in the downtown Dallas area (The first Feed Me Pronto location is opening September 28) but, she is also the mother of eight-month-old Charlie and a community activist. The former accountant has fans across the country and they span generations.
Below, Pieper shares with us some of her herb favorites and her go-to Central Market products. While this was not an easy list to pull together, she managed to narrow it down to her favorites for your enjoyment and inspiration.
Mint and basil are my favorites! I love the smell, taste and look of these two herbs. I use them in salads, soups, cocktails, and pestos. They grow easily and can be harvested often.
I love to make fresh minted green peas as a side dish, and I put basil in absolutely everything. With herbs, I like to get creative; I dry them, chop them, muddle them and keep them growing all season long.
Combining fresh English peas with mint is one of my top choices any season of the year — I can eat them hot or cold.
To make them, simply saute some garlic and onion in a little olive oil. Add the shelled peas, salt, and enough water to barely cover the peas. Cook on high heat for about 2 minutes. Then add the fresh mint leaves, a touch of butter, and a bit of heavy cream. Cook until the peas are tender — about five more minutes.
With basil, my go-to recipe is basil ricotta. I blend up ricotta cheese with a little olive oil and fresh basil leaves. It’s simple, delicious, and one of my first offerings at any gathering.
Well, I am constantly busy (either working or with my family). I wanted to create a healthy outlet where I, and people like me, can get whatever we need on-the-go quickly, whether that’s tea, breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, or late-night bite.
When I started my career in the accounting world, but I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. Combining my passion for food and commerce seemed like a perfect marriage.
Feed Me Pronto marries exciting brands, tasty flavors, and a unique shopping experience in a way no other convenience store does. It will have a “treat yourself well every day vibe” with a modern and timeless feel.
