Cinco de Mayo Recipe Roundup: 5 Fantastic Recipes

One of the most awaited and coveted holidays of the year is fast approaching. Cinco de Mayo is a wildly popular holiday in the United States, especially if you live in southern states like Texas. Why is a Mexican holiday so popular in the United States? Probably because it is a great excuse to go out for margaritas, tacos, and all of your favorite Mexican cuisine.

Before we get to the good stuff, let’s talk a little bit about the history of Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo is actually a holiday celebrated to commemorate the battle that took place between Mexico and France in 1862, where Mexico reigned victoriously. The battle that we are referring to, of course, took place on the fifth of May in 1862 and is called the Battle of Puebla.

Believe it or not, Cinco de Mayo, also known as the Battle of Puebla Day, is not a big deal in Mexico at all. However, Americans have embraced the day as a way to celebrate and embrace Mexican culture and cuisine.

And hey, we aren’t complaining…

As Gardenuity is based in Dallas, Texas, we are huge fans of the holiday, so we are rounding up all the recipes you need for a successful fiesta. Skip the lines at Mexican restaurants and try cooking up these dishes instead…
