3 Water Alternatives Your Kids Will Guzzle

Getting your kids to drink water is hard. After all, with options like juice and soda, who can blame them?

The solution?

Offer natural water alternatives that will still hydrate, satisfy, and excite them. These three water alternative recipes—infused water, herbal ice cubes, and flavored sparkling water—will have your kids guzzling water all day long.

Fruit and Herb Infused Water

There’s no better way to get your young ones to drink water than to add some natural sugars to the mix. This recipe is for pineapple basil water. With extremely sweet fruit and unique basil flavor, this water alternative will be the best and healthiest juice your kids ever had.

HOW-TO:

  1. Slice fresh pineapple.
  2. Muddle 15 leaves of fresh basil.
  3. Add ingredients to a half-gallon jar.
  4. Pour in filtered water, let infuse overnight, and enjoy chilled the next day.

Herbal Ice Cubes

Don’t have time to infuse water?

Make these herbal ice cubes ahead of time and throw them in your water on-the-go. Create as many options and unique combos as you desire—any herb works!

HOW-TO:

  1. Mince your herb of choice and pack into an ice cube tray so each pocket is 3/4 full.
  2. Fill with boiling water and pop them in the freezer.
  3. Use as desired.

Flavored Sparkling Water

If you’re a soda addict, this water alternative is for you. This recipe is cucumber, lavender, and mint sparkling water. With refreshing mint and cucumber, plus elegant lavender, you’ll have a delicious and natural sparkling water you can sip on all day — no weird chemicals included.

HOW-TO:

  1. Slice one large cucumber thinly.
  2. In a gallon glass pitcher, add 4 cups ice cubes, cucumber slices, 4-5 mint sprigs, 1 tsp culinary lavender, and 1-gallon cold water.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for 2-8 hours.
